With banks tightening their approval policies, it is now more important than ever to maximize the rewards you earn when applying for a new travel credit card. You need to be selective and strategic when picking out credit cards. The best way to score extra miles and points is by taking advantage of these limited time credit card offers. Follow along as we discuss some of our favorites.
What are limited time credit card offers?
Banks are constantly testing out offers for credit cards to see which resonate with potential customers. This is why you may see an offer for 40,000 points on one website and 50,000 points on another. Some offers are only available through targeted campaigns you receive via email or traditional mail.
When banks are launching a new product or if they are experiencing a lull in applications, they’ll release a limited time offer to generate a buzz around a credit card. One of the best examples of the last couple of years was when the Chase Sapphire Reserve was launched with a 100,000 point bonus.
Limited Time Credit Card Offers
Here is a selection of the top limited time credit card offers that will help you maximize the number of airline miles, hotel points, and bank bonuses you receive.
Hilton Honors Credit Card Offers
With Hilton moving their portfolio from Citibank to American Express, there are several new credit card options available to earn a bonus, even if you’ve had a Hilton credit card in the past. All 3 of the Hilton limited time credit card offers are available through June 27, 2018. Editor’s Note: The Hilton Honors copy below has been updated to reflect current offers.
Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card
The Hilton Ascend credit card is offering a 100,000 Hilton Honors point bonus after spending $2,000 within the first 3 months. And to make the deal even sweeter, you’ll receive a free weekend night after your first card anniversary. This free night is on top of the free weekend night that you earn each year that you spend $15,000 on the Hilton Ascend card.
Hilton Honors American Express Card
The no-annual-fee Hilton Honors card is offering 50,000 Hilton Honors points when you use your new Card to make $1,000 in eligible purchases within the first 3 months of Card Membership. With redemptions for free nights as low as 5,000 points, you can get up to 5 extra nights with this larger bonus.
Hilton Honors American Express Business Card
Business owners shouldn’t feel left out, because the Hilton Honors American Express Business credit card is just for you. Plus it has the largest bonus I’ve ever seen for a Hilton credit card with 100,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 within 3 months!
Aside from the normal perks of Gold status and 12x points at Hilton, you can earn up to two free weekend nights by spending on the card. You’ll receive the first after spending $15,000 and the other after an additional $45,000 each calendar year.
Chase Ultimate Rewards
Chase Ultimate Rewards are some of the most sought-after points in the travel community.
Chase Ink Business Preferred
The Chase Ink Business Preferred card is a must have if you own a business. It offers 3x points on the first $150,000 you spend on travel, shipping, internet, cable, phone, and social media & internet advertising each account year. With the ability to combine the Ultimate Rewards you earn from your business with those in your personal account, you have tremendous power and flexibility when booking your travel.
The current offer of 80,000 Ultimate Reward points after spending $5,000 within the first 3 months is 60% higher than the normal bonus of 50,000 points. Note that it matches the same number of bonus points as the limited time credit card offer of the Chase Sapphire Preferred. But, it’s without the much larger spending requirement.
American Express Business Platinum Card
The American Express Business Platinum Card offers a normal bonus of 50,000 Membership Reward points after spending $10,000 within 3 months. But for a limited time, you can earn an additional 50,000 point bonus if you spend an extra $15,000 within those same 3 months. This offer expires August 8, 2018, so apply quickly.
Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Credit Card
The 75,000 point bonus from Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Plus is much higher than the normal 60,000 bonus points they usually offer. With the pending consolidation of SPG into the Marriott brand on August 1, 2018, you’ll want to take advantage of this limited time credit card offer. Book any award sweet spots before they disappear in August.
CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select World Mastercard
This is the best bonus I’ve ever seen for the business version of the Citi AAdvantage credit card. With a 70,000 point bonus, it is 16% higher than the previous high of 60,000 points. The great thing is that Citibank still allows you to try this card for free for a year by waiving the $95 annual fee the first year.
You’ll find huge value with this card when you earn a companion ticket after spending $30,000 each year. That benefit alone could be well worth keeping this credit card year after year.
Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Card
Chase and Southwest bounce their bonuses around on a regular basis. I’ve seen normal offers ranging from 30,000 to 50,000. This varied depending on the marketing channel they’re using – website, blogs, airport kiosks, etc. This offer of 60,000 is the best I’ve seen, but it will only be here for a short time.
Combining the 60,000 business credit card bonus and the 50,000 personal credit card bonus is the fastest and easiest path to earning the coveted Southwest Companion Pass. If you apply now and meet the minimum spend on both cards quickly, you can enjoy the Companion Pass benefits of free flight for your designated companion for about a year and a half.
Don’t Settle For Less Rewards
As you have seen, there are some very lucrative rewards available right now. Don’t settle for less. You have an easy opportunity to maximize the airline miles and hotels points available to you. Take advantage with a couple of credit card applications with these limited time credit card offers.
