Best Wells Fargo Credit Cards for Travel Rewards
If redeeming rewards points for award flights is your preferred redemption option, it’s possible to make your points worth 50% more with these two Wells Fargo credit cards.
Wells Fargo Propel American Express Card
The Wells Fargo Propel American Express® Card is the best of the Wells Fargo credit cards. It’s easy to earn rewards points on your daily purchases and you won’t pay an annual fee or foreign transaction fee.
However, travelers can benefit the most from this card as your points can be worth 50% more than cash rewards by redeeming your points for airfare.
Right now, new cardmembers can earn the bonus offer of 30,000 bonus points worth at least $300 in cash or travel rewards by spending $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.
On top of the bonus points, you will also earn unlimited 3x points per $1 on these purchases:
- Eating out and ordering in
- Gas stations, rideshares, and transit
- Travel including flights, hotels, homestays, and car rentals
- Popular streaming services like Hulu, Netflix, and Spotify
All other eligible purchases earn 1x point per $1 spent.
You can redeem your rewards for travel, cash, and gift cards. But your points are worth 50% more when booking flights with points. For example, 50,000 points are worth $750 in air travel but only $500 for cash rewards. Keep in mind these are impressive rewards options for a card without an annual fee.
You might wait to apply for the Wells Fargo Propel if you have opened any Wells Fargo credit card in the last 15 months as you won’t qualify for this bonus offer until the waiting period lapses.
One other benefit you might enjoy is $600 in cell phone protection. Simply pay your monthly cell phone bill with the Propel Card to qualify.
According to reports from current Propel users, you can qualify for this card with a credit score in the high 600s or low 700s.
Wells Fargo Visa Signature Card
Maximize your gas, grocery, and drugstore purchases with the Wells Fargo Signature Card. You will earn 5x points on the first $12,500 in combined spending on gas, grocery, and drugstore purchases for the first 6 months. All other purchases earn an unlimited 1 point per $1 spent.
The Wells Fargo Visa Signature doesn’t charge an annual fee but has a 3% foreign transaction fee. Like the Wells Fargo Propel, your rewards points are worth 50% more when redeeming your points for award travel.
This card doesn’t offer a signup bonus or additional benefits beyond the standard Visa Signature benefits including trip cancellation protection, lost luggage reimbursement, and secondary auto rental collision coverage. You can also enjoy special benefits including complimentary breakfast and free in-room internet at over 900 properties in the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection.
