Great news for travelers to Hawaii! Governor David Ige of Hawaii just announced that effective July 8, the state will eliminate its pre-travel testing/quarantine requirement for domestic travelers to Hawaii who have been fully vaccinated in the United States.

According to the Governor’s office, “Travelers to Hawai‘i must upload their CDC issued vaccination record card to the state’s Safe Travels Program website and have that card with them upon arrival in the State of Hawai‘i.”

This should also create availability to restaurants because once the state hits the 60% vaccination rate, restaurants can increase capacity to 75%.

Governor Ige said, “Our residents have sacrificed and worked hard to get to this point, but we still have more to do. Please get vaccinated to protect yourselves and your loved ones. We are close to achieving a 70% vaccination rate, at which point all restrictions will end and we can return to the lives we remember.”

This is huge news for travelers to Hawaii and is a game-changer for me. I’m ready to hop on a plane and say, ‘Aloha!’ However, I’m not clear on the requirements for travelers with young children. Do they need to be tested or to quarantine? Please leave a comment below if you know.

What about Canadians that are fully vaccinated? I know they dropped the requirements for domestic travellers but what about others that have had 2 vaccines? Thanks
