The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card is one of the best credit cards for travel rewards for several reasons. Cardholders earn 2x miles on every purchase, they get a fee credit of up to $100 for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry, and they can take advantage of the ability to transfer miles to hotel and airline loyalty programs.

Plus, not only is it easy to earn and redeem credit card miles, but the Capital One Venture bonus is worth $750 in award travel. Enjoy a one-time bonus of 75,000 miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within three months of account opening with the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card.

However, if you want to earn a few more miles on travel, the good news—earn 5x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.

With the many benefits available, it’s worth knowing if you can qualify for the Capital One Venture bonus twice.

Can You Get The Capital One Venture Bonus Twice?

If you’re a previous Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card you may want this card again for its flat-rate rewards. However, are you only going to apply if you can earn the bonus again?

The answer may surprise you.

Capital One Venture Bonus Offer Rules

Let’s go straight to the source and see what Capital One says about the Venture bonus:

Once you qualify for this bonus, we will apply it to your rewards balance within two billing cycles. Existing or previous Accountholders may not be eligible for this one-time bonus.

Also, the footnotes on the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card homepage contain this phrase:

This one-time bonus is available by clicking the “Apply Now” button on this page, and may not be available if you navigate away from or close this page. The bonus may not be available for existing or previous account holders.
Many credit cards let you earn a repeat signup bonus after waiting at least 24 months from earning your first bonus. You will also need to close your card account before applying. Capital One doesn’t clearly state a minimum waiting period to potentially earn a second bonus.

One-Time Signup Bonus

It appears you can only earn the Capital One Venture bonus once under the current policy. Unlike the American Express “once in a lifetime” policy, the wording is a little vague.

Here’s a visual example of the American Express® Gold Card welcome offer:

Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card or the Premier Rewards Gold Card. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.

It’s clear with Amex that you won’t get a second welcome bonus again if you close your account and re-apply in the future.

Capital One’s wording is a little cloudy in these three phrases:

  • “Existing or previous Accountholders may not be eligible for this one-time bonus.”
  • “This one-time bonus is available by clicking the “Apply Now” button”
  • The bonus may not be available for existing or previous account holders.”

This means you might qualify for a repeat Venture signup bonus. However, a quick online search shows no data points where people earn a second signup bonus.

To play it safe, you should ask Capital One before re-applying to see if you might qualify. They might decide on a case-by-case basis.

What To Do Instead

You have other options to get a signup bonus if you can’t earn the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card bonus again.

Have Your Spouse Apply for the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card

Your spouse can apply for their own Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and earn the signup bonus. If they are currently an authorized user on your Venture Card account, they will need to cancel their additional card first.

To avoid a hard credit check on your credit report, you can be an authorized user. You can save your credit check for a credit card offering a signup bonus.

Going For a Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card

The closest Venture Card alternative is the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card.

New Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card cardholders can earn 20,000 bonus miles after spending $500 on purchases within three months from account opening, equal to $200 in travel.

This card doesn’t have an annual fee or a foreign transaction fee.

Why apply for the VentureOne? You earn Venture Miles that you can pool with the full-fledged Capital One Venture or the Capital One Spark Miles business credit cards. This makes it easier to redeem your Venture miles for larger award amounts.

Go For a Capital One Spark Miles Option

If you own a small business or earn self-employment income, you can qualify for a Capital One Spark Business credit card.

There are two different Spark business credit cards that earn travel rewards. Both cards have the same point redemption options as the personal Venture and VentureOne cards. Plus, you can pool your Spark miles and Venture miles together.

Below are your two different options. The minimum spend is higher than the Venture and VentureOne cards.

Capital One Spark Miles for Business

The Capital One Spark Miles for Business bonus offer is 50,000 miles ($500 value) after spending $4,500 in purchases in the first three months. The annual fee is $0 for the first year and $95 for each anniversary.

Capital One Spark Miles Select for Business

The Capital One® Spark® Miles Select bonus offer is 20,000 bonus miles ($200 value) after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months. There isn’t an annual fee.

Try for a Different Travel Credit Card

If earning Capital One miles is out of the picture, your best option can be pursuing one of the best credit card signup bonuses. These bonuses might have a higher cash value than the Venture signup bonus. In other cases, the bonus offer may have a lower minimum spend which can be a better fit for your budget.

These are two of the best Capital One Venture alternatives:

Both cards are similar in many regards. Each card also has a $95 annual fee starting the first year but no foreign transaction fees to worry about.

You can also transfer your points to various airline partners. Citi’s transfer partners are better for international travel. Chase has domestic and international travel partners, including exclusive partnerships with United, Southwest Airlines, IHG, and World of Hyatt.

Summary

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card bonus offer is a one-time prize for most people. You will need to try for another Capital One card that earns travel miles to get a similar bonus. Otherwise, applying for a different bank credit card is your next best option.

FAQs

How much is the signup bonus miles worth?

Enjoy a one-time bonus of 75,000 miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within three months from account opening, equal to $750 in travel, with the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card.

Each point is worth 1 cent each for travel statement credits on recent travel purchases and booking upcoming travel through Capital One Travel. You can also transfer your miles to participating airline and hotel partners where each point can be worth potentially more.

Your Venture miles are only worth 0.8 cents each when redeemed for gift cards or cash rewards. So, do your best to redeem them for travel to find the maximum value.

Do Capital One Venture miles expire?

Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card miles don’t expire if your card account remains open and in good standing. You will lose any remaining miles balance if you close your card. Before closing your account, either redeem them or transfer them to another eligible Capital One Venture, VentureOne, Spark Miles, or Spark Miles Select member.

Is the Capital One Venture card a good deal?

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card can be a good deal if you prefer redeeming your credit card miles for award travel. Each point is worth 1 cent for award travel but only 0.8 cents for cash rewards. You might be able to get at least 1 cent per mile by transferring to an airline partner to book an award flight.

The Venture can also be a good card if you want to earn 2 miles per $1 on all purchases. The flat-rate rewards make it easy to earn bonus miles on your daily spending when travel, dining, gas stations, and other tiered categories are not your most common purchases. However, if you want to earn a few more miles on travel, good news—earn 5x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.

You must decide if the reward miles you earn and the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck are worth the $95 annual fee for this metal credit card.
