Consider your clothing before going through securityEach Friday, we feature a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip comes from Mary B. of Guilford, CT, who says:

“I recently went through TSA in a U.S. international airport and was wearing a dressy blouse that had sequins and beads. The TSA person said that that type of clothing sets off the machines and I had to go through a manual pat-down and the X-ray booth that revolves. Will know the next time but thought fellow travelers might want to know this when at this time of year there are lots of holiday-type, glittery clothing.”

Thanks, Mary!

I was stopped when I went through security a couple of years ago because my jeans had metallic threads in them. I did not even know that it was there!! I was told by TSA to be careful of wearing jeans with any kind of decorative beads or threads on the pockets also. These will always stop you from going right through. Since these are a very popular kind of jean, I thought I would let everyone know.
