Earn Bonus SkyMiles on Flights and Dining

The Blue Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express earns SkyMiles on every purchase. You will earn two SkyMiles on every Delta and U.S. restaurant purchase per dollar spent. All remaining purchases earn one point per dollar spent.

In addition to earning bonus SkyMiles, you will also be awarded a 20% statement credit for Delta in-flight purchases for food, beverages, and headsets. The statement credit will be awarded on the same billing statement.

There are no annual earning limits and your SkyMiles will never expire provided your Delta credit card account remains active.

Your Delta SkyMiles can be redeemed for award flights starting at 5,000 miles per flight.

Enjoy 10,000 Bonus SkyMiles for Signing Up

New Blue Delta SkyMiles cardmembers will also enjoy 10,000 bonus SkyMiles as a welcome offer. You will need to only spend $500 within the first three months to receive the bonus points. This is a very reasonable spending requirement.

There are a few stipulations you must meet in order to qualify for the bonus. Mainly, you cannot currently own or have owned any American Express Delta credit card within the past 90 days. If so, you will have to wait 90 days after canceling your card to qualify for the Amex Blue Delta bonus.

No Annual Fee

In recent years, airlines have placed more emphasis on the “race to the top” to attract and retain the most loyal customers. Now, they have realized young professionals are becoming a larger travel demographic as their careers flourish and they have a disposable income to spend on air travel.

The only catch is that these same travelers (and cost-conscious Gen-Xers) want to earn bonus airline miles without paying an annual credit card fee. Major U.S. carriers have recently begun introducing no-fee rewards cards to meet the needs of budget-savvy and periodic travelers.

You will never pay an annual fee with the Blue Delta SkyMiles Credit Card.

What the Blue Delta SkyMiles Credit Card Doesn’t Offer

If you currently own a Delta rewards card and are considering downgrading to the Blue Delta Amex, you might want to think twice.

The Amex Blue Delta is ideal for earning points without paying an annual fee. It earns the same amount of SkyMiles as the flagship Delta Reserve of 2 SkyMiles on Delta flights. And, you earn bonus miles on dining which no other Delta credit card offers.

Since you won’t pay an annual fee with the Amex Blue Delta, you won’t enjoy the following benefits:

  • Free checked bags
  • Priority boarding
  • Discounted Delta SkyClub access
  • Medallion Qualification Miles (starting January 1, 2018)

You will also pay a 2.7% foreign transaction fee on all international purchases.

Should You Get the Blue Delta SkyMiles Credit Card?

The no-fee Amex Blue Delta is intended for occasional Delta passengers that currently use a no-fee cash back rewards card as their primary credit card. With a 2% rewards rate on all Delta purchases and U.S. dining, these same casual travelers can earn rewards flights sooner. And, it can get their feet wet as they enter the travel rewards arena.
