At some airports—like LAX—where they have an upstairs for drop-offs and a downstairs for arrivals, switch your thinking during busy times to save a ton of time (usually, at least). Get dropped off at arrivals and get picked up at departures. Most airports—like LAX—even encourage passengers to do this. By doing the opposite of everyone else, you can get in and out much faster!

This is not encouraged at all airports. In fact Newark (NYC area) has signs indicating that pick up on the departure level is not allowed. I am not sure why.
According to my Lyft driver, big fine for them to let out at Arrivals at LAX. Even with promise of larger tip, wouldn’t do it. Oddly, they pick up only at Departures.
Yeah, I was afraid of that.
