Ever wondered how old the plane you’re flying on is? In a recent tweet, photographer Pete Halvorsen shared a simple way to tell:

If you’re nervous about flying, it may not help to confirm that your plane is old, but remember that really old planes can still fly like new as a result of all the maintenance they receive. Here’s a good post by our resident pilot on the subject.

Never occurred to me? Nice to have information… I have always known how to tell the age of a military airplane….first numbers of the tail number.

Old planes can be really nice, especially if the interior has been kept up. On DL, I’m always looking for routes where I can fly a 757, despite many of them being 20+ years old.
