Growing up my dad had a big ol’ Lincoln Town Car but then Lincoln kind of went out of style until they “reimagined” themselves. It also didn’t hurt they hired Matthew McConaughey and Serena Williams as their spokespersons and ran a gazillion commercials on TV. Four years ago I leased a Lincoln MKC when my wife was pregnant with our firstborn. Within a couple of weeks after Jack’s birth, we knew the car was way too small but we were locked into a three-year deal.

Last year when the lease was up, we looked at a bunch of larger SUVs, from Audi to Volvo, but they were either too big or way too much money. We went back to the Lincoln dealership, and they were amazing to work with. Our first choice was the Lincoln Aviator, partly because of the name since it’s on-brand. But, it was just too much money and too big (it has three rows instead of two).

Fortunately, we went with a Lincoln vehicle that was in between the two—The Nautilus—and it was priced right. I’m so glad we went with it because, with the pandemic and the economy (especially those in travel), the bottom just fell out. The Aviator payments would’ve been a stretch. But we’re happy with the Nautilus because it has a huge trunk space and the front and backseats are so much roomier, even with two car seats!

The Lincoln Access Rewards Loyalty Program

Lincoln has expanded its Lincoln Access Rewards loyalty program. Similar to travel loyalty programs (like these easy to use dining rewards programs), the luxury automaker is offering consumers rewards and extra benefits for their purchases. The program, introduced in Fall 2019, gives clients to ability to earn points that can be redeemed in several ways:

  • For future new vehicles
  • Dealer services
  • Exclusive offers
  • World-class experiences

Purchasing or leasing any new Lincoln vehicle earns points in a tiered approach, based on the trim of the vehicle. You can also earn points by scheduling services via the Lincoln Way app.

New Rewards

Lincoln is offering a variety of new rewards to its Lincoln Access Rewards program. These include culinary and travel experiences. Some of the new rewards include:

  • Stays at Lincoln partner hotels including Dream Nashville and Mondrian Los Angeles
  • Two-night stay at SLS South Beach Miami plus dinner for two at Katsuya
  • Dinner for two at over 50 Culinary Collection Restaurants
  • Shinola leather shopper tote
  • Salt & Pepper Box from Smith & Truslow
  • Six-month membership to Zingerman’s Bread Club

New rewards will be added quarterly.

Credit Cards To Help

The information for the Citi® Double Cash Card has been collected independently by Johnny Jet. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

If you’ve thought about using a credit card to help pay for a new vehicle, know that there is usually a limit as to how much you can put on the card, assuming they allow credit card use at all. For instance, you may be able to use one of the best American Express cards to put $2,000 or more towards your vehicle purchase with the Amex Auto Purchasing Program.

However, some dealerships have a strict policy against credit card use. You will need to call the dealership to ask what their policies are.

Fortunately, there are other ways you can use your credit cards to maximize your purchases. You could earn points for car maintenance with the Lincoln Access Rewards program and pay with a cash back credit card to get rewards for your purchase.

For instance, using the Citi® Double Cash Card will earn you up to 2% back on purchases. Cardholders earn 1% cash back when they buy, plus 1% cash back once they pay for the purchase. To earn cash back, pay at least the minimum due on time. This is one of the highest rates for a flat rate cash rewards credit card, and it doesn’t have an annual fee.

The Chase Freedom Unlimited® is another no annual fee option. It earns at least 1.5% cash back on all purchases.
