Peak holiday shopping season is here, and there are many ways to earn bonus points when you buy gifts. One of the latest is for Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card cardholders. It’s possible to earn up to 8 Bonvoy points per $1 at Amazon, Target, and Walmart with this Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant shopping bonus, available for a limited time.
Earn Bonvoy Points at Amazon, Target, and Walmart (Expired)
The Amazon, Target, and Walmart Bonvoy Brilliant shopping bonus is active now until December 27, 2020.
Cardmembers will need to opt-in to earn 6 bonus Bonvoy points per $1 (8 points total) on qualifying purchases. The 8x Bonvoy bonus applies to the first $3,500 in combined purchases at Amazon, Target, and Walmart. All remaining purchases earn the base rate of 2 Bonvoy points per $1.
Adding this spending bonus comes as a recent Amex Trendex survey finds that 64% of respondents agree that giving and getting gifts is a way to reconnect this year.
This shopping bonus is an enticing way to earn Bonvoy points while you don’t travel as often. Earning the full bonus lets you reach 28,000 points. That’s enough points for one standard rate award night at a category 4 property (25,000 points per night). You can get up to 5 free nights at an off-peak category 1 property that only requires 5,000 points each night.
If you prefer to pass your points onto someone else, you can donate them to select charities using the Serve 360 program. ‘Tis the season for giving, after all.
Other Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Perks
This premium Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card has several other perks you can enjoy if you’re traveling this holiday season.
- $300 annual Marriott Bonvoy statement credits
- $100 Marriott Bonvoy on-property credit (requires a 2-night minimum stay at Ritz-Carlton or St. Regis properties)
- One free night award each card anniversary (50,000 points or less per night)
- 15 Elite Night credits
- Premium internet access
Cardholders earn 6x Bonvoy points on eligible Marriott purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy Hotels, 3 points at U.S. restaurants and on flights booked directly with airlines, and 2 points on all other eligible purchases.
If you’re flying, you can also enjoy Priority Pass lounge access and a free Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit.
The annual fee is $450, however, there are no foreign transaction fees (See Rates & Fees).
Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Welcome Bonus (Expired)
On top of the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant shopping bonus, new cardholders can earn up to 125,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. Earn 100,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 in purchases on your new card in your first 3 months. Additionally, new cardholders earn 25,000 bonus points after your first anniversary of card membership (this offer expires on 01/13/2021). New cardholders can also enjoy complimentary Platinum Elite status with your card for the 2021 status year (the offer expires on 01/13/2021).
In addition to making your shopping list, also consider which credit card earns the most bonus points on the purchase. If you happen to have the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant, this offer lets you earn more points than the card’s regular rewards program.
