The flat-rate Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® bonus offer gives new cardholders 70,000 bonus miles. That makes this bonus worth $700 in travel statement credits. But, we’ll tell you how this bonus can actually be worth $735 in award travel.

Plus, you can enjoy a few other perks of the Barclaycard Arrival Plus too. See rates and fees here.

Spend $5,000 and Get 70,000 Bonus Miles

When you spend $5,000 in the first 90 days, you get 70,000 bonus miles. Plus, you earn 2 miles per $1 spent on every purchase. So, by spending your first $5,000, you earn 70,000 total miles.

Each Barclay mile is worth 1 cent each when redeemed for travel statement credits. This makes the 70,000 bonus miles worth $700 when redeemed for travel rewards.

You can also redeem your miles for cash statement credits, gift cards, and merchandise. However, you won’t squeeze as much value from your miles. In fact, cash statement redemptions start at 5,000 miles for a $25 credit. At this rate, each mile is only worth 0.5 cents each.

Do yourself a favor and save your miles for travel statement credits. You can redeem your miles for any travel-related purchase that took place within the last 120 days.

Get a 5% Travel Redemption Bonus

The most valuable Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® redemption option is travel statement credits. Your miles are worth one cent each. Plus, you get a special redemption bonus. Barclays gives you 5% of all redeemed miles back for future redemptions.

Redeeming 70,000 miles for travel gives you 3,500 miles back making this bonus more likely to be worth $735.

This redemption bonus doesn’t extend to non-travel redemptions.

How to Redeem Arrival Plus Miles for Travel

This isn’t an exhaustive list. Barclays defines travel purchases as airlines, lodging, rental cars, taxis and other public transit, discount travel sites, and travel agencies. You can redeem your points for the most common travel purchases and the relatively unconventional ones like Airbnb stays and campgrounds.

To redeem your miles, log in to your Barclays account, select the travel purchases you want reimbursed for, and apply your miles balance. You can start redeeming miles with at least 10,000 miles.

Other Barclaycard Arrival Plus Benefits

Flat-rate rewards cards don’t get a lot of attention. After all, you know exactly how much you’re going to earn on every purchase. Plus, you know exactly how much your miles are worth when you redeem them.

But, the Arrival Plus is an exciting card that you might prefer for its simplicity. Knowing that you earn 2 miles per $1 can actually help you accumulate more rewards than a tiered rewards card that only offers bonus miles on select purchases and 1 mile for all non-bonus purchases.

The Barclaycard Arrival Plus is a chip and pin card.

International Chip and Pin Technology

You might appreciate the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® for the peace of mind when you travel abroad.

First, the Arrival Plus is a Mastercard, one of the most widely accepted credit card issuers in the world.

When you travel abroad, the Arrival Plus has a built-in chip and pin technology. Other countries require you to enter a PIN number to complete credit card purchases. It also happens when you withdraw cash from an ATM machine.

If your credit card doesn’t come with a PIN number, you might not be able to complete the transaction. This usually happens at self-payment kiosks like train stations, parking lots, or even vending machines. When you’re in a hurry, the last thing you need is to find the one cashier that accepts cash or can manually swipe your credit card.

Miles Never Expire

Your Barclays miles never expire by keeping your Arrival Plus account in good standing.

While you can redeem your miles for any travel purchase, you might decide to save them for low-cost trips or domestic travel. This answer depends on what other travel credit cards you own. For instance, you might get a better redemption rate by transferring miles to an airline or hotel loyalty program.

The Arrival Plus doesn’t offer mile transfers or let you book upcoming travel. Knowing that your miles don’t expire doesn’t pressure you to “redeem or lose” your miles for a poor redemption option.

Arrival Plus Bonus Offer Vs. Other Travel Bonuses

How does the best-ever Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® bonus offer compare to other flexible travel rewards credit cards?

Let’s take a look.

Capital One Venture

The Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card is a good comparison. Both cards pay 2 points per $1 on all purchases. Of course, the Venture has undergone several enhancements lately including 10x purchases rewards on Hotels.com purchases and free Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. Their most recent benefit upgrade is the option of airline point transfers.

The bonus is worth 50,000 bonus miles by spending $3,000 within 3 months of account opening. These miles are worth $500 in travel, cash, and gift card rewards.

The annual fee is $95 but it’s $0 the first year. The Arrival Plus annual fee is $89 and $0 during the first year.

Chase Sapphire Preferred

The Chase Sapphire Preferred offers 60,000 bonus points worth $750 in award travel after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months from account opening. This bonus value includes a 25% travel redemption bonus when you redeem your points for future award travel on the Chase travel portal.

For most award travel fans, the real value for this card is the 1:1 point transfers to airline and hotel partners like Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and World of Hyatt. Direct point transfers can make the 60,000-point bonus offer worth more.

You earn 2 points per $1 on travel and dining purchases and 1 point per $1 on all remaining purchases.

If you prefer earning flat rate rewards or redeeming points for travel statement credits (i.e. recent travel purchases), the Arrival Plus is a better option.

Summary

This limited-time bonus makes the Barclaycard Arrival Plus® World Elite Mastercard® bonus offer worth $700. Since you can redeem your miles for any travel purchase, you won’t have a problem finding a way to spend your points.

The next time you take a trip, the first $700 are on Barclays’ tab.
