January 1 brought new laws around the country. Since I live in the Golden State and it’s one of the most popular states to live in and visit, I thought I would feature some of the new driving laws in California.
One of the new rules of the road says that drivers can no longer hold their phones to use GPS. Instead, phones must be mounted on the dashboard or placed in the lower-right corner or lower-left corner of the windshield. On top of that, drivers may only use one finger to swipe or tap the screen—by law.
Other laws include motorcycle lane splitting and a revision to child safety seats (children have to stay in rear-facing car seats in the backseat until the age of two, unless they are 40-inches tall or over 40 pounds). Read more on the updates here.
