Order room service in coursesEveryone knows that room service is expensive, sometimes prohibitively so. It’s crazy to think that many hotels lose money on room service, even with the extravagant prices!

Instead of ordering room service, I now usually order in using a delivery app like Postmates, UberEats, GrubHub, or DoorDash. However, once in a great while, my wife and I will order room service since it’s easier and it’s one of Natalie’s favorite things to do. It’s a real luxury to hang out in our hotel room in our robes and have dinner brought up!

When we do place a room service order, we’ve learned over the years to order everything all at once but ask the hotel to bring the food up in courses. I recommend it. This way, your food won’t go cold and your ice cream for dessert won’t melt. Most importantly, you won’t get repeatedly dinged the service charge, which is what really makes room service so expensive.

So do you tip 2/3 times? What if it’s different people every time?

Pretty Brilliant except when they insist on charging multiple delivery fees
I can just imagine eventually some hotel will insist on it
Do you tip the delivery guy every time he brings up a course or one set amount?
