Thanks to an article on CNBC, I learned a new trick for my iPhone. One of my favorite apps is Shazam because whenever I’m in a store or a taxi (especially in a foreign country) and I like the music I’m hearing, I always scramble to find the Shazam app on my phone and open it before the song ends so I can find out what it was to download to my playlist. Inevitably, the song ends before I can open Shazam so making it quicker to access would be so much better.

Well, thanks to Apple acquiring Shazam in 2018, you can now activate the app in one quick tap. You can add it to your Control Center (the control panel you access by swiping down from the top of your screen). It’s a new update so you need to make sure that you’re running the latest software on your iPhone. To do that, go to Settings > General > Software update. You need to be on iOS 14.2 or newer.

Once that’s done, go to Settings > Control Center > Music Recognition and tap the green plus sign to add the function to your Control Center. Now, you can quickly use the Shazam function without ever having to download the app.
