reader-travel-tip2Keep a Copy of Your Passport
Each Friday, we feature a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip comes from reader Julie B., who follows up last week’s tip by saying:

“As a follow-up to the people who screenshot their boarding pass, I also screenshot my passport. Some people email a copy to themselves as well for a backup. When traveling I also make sure to have to sign in to my phone in case that gets stolen.”

It’s a great idea to keep a copy of your passport and any important documents in an accessible place (online, or better yet on your person as well). Thanks, Julie!

keep a color copy (paper) of your passport
makes it easier to replace if you have to go to an embassy (you need other documents etc)

but I always use a paper copy in a hotel to prevent them from ‘asking to return it to me later’

This is a great tip and so important. I lost my passport in Rio and it really helped to have a copy on hand when I went to the consulate to get a new one.
