If you’re looking into applying for the Hyatt Credit Card, you’re probably tempted by the card’s 40,000-point sign-up bonus [EXPIRED]. But that’s hardly the Hyatt credit card’s only benefit. In this article, we’ll look into how you can make the most of your free anniversary night with the Hyatt Visa Credit Card.

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Bangkok a few years ago and enjoyed it.

Hyatt Credit Card [Expired]: The Basics

Each year, shortly after your cardmember anniversary, you’ll receive a certificate for a free night stay at any category 1-4 Hyatt property. You’ll have a year to spend it, and no blackout dates limiting your reservation. As long as there’s a standard room available at your preferred property, you’ll be able to redeem your free night.

Of course, there’s a huge variety in the kinds of rooms that will get you. And considering you’re actually paying $75 per year for the Hyatt card, you’ll want to book a stay worth at least that much. Luckily, you’ll be able to book a stay at a category 4 property, so you should have no problem booking a room worth much more than your Hyatt card’s annual fee.

Beyond the anniversary night, you can easily earn 45,000 bonus points in the first 3 months with the Hyatt Visa card. Just be sure to spend $2,000, add an authorized user, and have them make their first purchase all in the first 3 months. Considering that award nights at Hyatt properties start at as few as 5,000 points, that’s already a great start.

Redeem Your Hyatt Visa Anniversary Night

You’ll be able to redeem your anniversary night at any Hyatt property that’s a category 1, 2, 3, or 4. Of course, you’ll probably want to make the most of your free night–or nights, if you earn the sign-up bonus–by cashing in for a stay at a category 4 property.

Category 4 properties go for 15,000 points per night. They’re centrally located in major US cities like Miami, Houston, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, and San Francisco, to name just a few. They’ll also come with more amenities than their category 1-3 counterparts; some category 4 properties offer heated outdoor pools, larger fitness centers, and an array of on-site restaurants and bars. Not bad for a free stay.

But you won’t be limited to booking a stay within the US. Hyatt has properties around the world, many of them category 4. Use your free anniversary night could in combination with your 45,000 bonus points, and you’ll have enough to book 4 nights at a luxury hotel in the US or abroad. Here are some of your options:

1. Grand Hyatt Washington DC

The Grand Hyatt in Washington DC is located in the Penn Quarter neighborhood, within walking distance of CityCenterDC. You’ll have easy access to the city’s many attractions– you might not even have time to take advantage of the hotel’s pool, gym, and on-site restaurants.

2. Hyatt Centric Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco

All amenities aside, this has got to be the cheapest stay you’ll be able to find in notoriously pricey San Francisco. This is another location with so many sights, you might not take advantage of the hotel’s amenities, anyway. This property is located in North Beach, but a few free nights here combined with excellent views might make up for your commute time to Haight-Ashbury and the Mission.

3. Andaz Costa Rica Resort

If you’re looking to maximize your free night on an international trip, you could do (way, way) worse than Costa Rica. The country is known for its ecotourism, which Hyatt has embraced in the design of its resort in Guanacaste. The resort is situated alongside the coast and jungle, giving you a comfy vantage point to appreciate the area’s beauty from after a trip to the on-site spa.

4. Hyatt Regency Trinidad

If you’re looking for a tropical getaway, this is another one for you. The Hyatt Regency Trinidad is located both on the water and near the downtown of this tiny island, so you’ll be spoiled for things to do (and ways to relax.) Plus, where else will you have access to a free rooftop infinity pool overlooking the Caribbean?

5. Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile

This Hyatt Regency is located within walking distance of the Arc de Triomphe, with equally stunning views of the Eiffel Tower and the city’s skyline. It’s location within the Paris Convention Center also means you’ll have easy access to airport shuttles and public transportation, for seeing all the sights that aren’t quite within walking distance.

6. Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok

Luxury hotels might not be the first thing you imagine when you think of Thailand, but Bangkok is a place where even budget travelers can enjoy a little bit of pampering. The Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok is located in the heart of the city, with all the amenities you would expect of a category 4 hotel: a 24-hour gym, a 25 meter pool, spas, and even tennis courts.

7. Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa

Goa is known for being one of the most popular tourist destinations in India, thanks to its gorgeous beaches, unique food, and roster of luxury hotels. If you’re looking to book a stay in Goa, you’ll have plenty of hotels and resorts to choose from. That said, the Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa stands out for its private beach, pools, and spacious rooms. It even has a supervised kid’s area– a huge plus for families.

8. Grand Hyatt Melbourne

If you’re making the trip to Melbourne, you probably won’t spend a whole lot of time in your hotel room. Still, the standard rooms at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne will provide you a floor-to-ceiling view of either downtown Melbourne or the Yarra River.

9. Grand Hyatt Dubai

Hyatt describes the Grand Hyatt Dubai as a “city resort,” and it certainly earns the title. This property has 4 pools, 13 on-site restaurants, a “Kidz Club”, and a spa.

10. Hyatt Regency Vancouver

This is the only category 3 hotel on the list, but it’s also one of the only category 3 or 4 Hyatt properties in Canada. The hotel is situated in downtown Vancouver, making it a good home base for exploring the city and taking day trips to see the surrounding area.

If you didn’t find your ideal hotel on this list, you can head to the Hyatt website to browse their properties by amenities, category, and brand.
