Why you shouldn’t wear shorts on the planeI rarely wear shorts on the plane, because planes and airports are usually freezing. But this Reader’s Digest article lists another and more important reason to not wear shorts on a plane. From the story: “Try to wear clothing that covers skin that could touch your seat. Like other parts of the plane, the seats aren’t cleaned between flights and could be places where germs hide.”

This might be sage advice for people with compromised immune systems, but for the general population, it’s needlessly germaphobic.

    Hi JJ,
    .
Here I aim, writing this reply from the Admirals Club in MEX. We just came from MAD yesterday on IB in C Class. My only excuse is that my wife didn’t pack my bag (yes, my fault) and I didn’t have any long pants. I have shorts on now about to go FC to DFW and ATL. My thing is, I would rather wear long pants because it is more respectable if you are in Business or FC. Last year we flew BA from LHR to ATL in FC and most of the PAX were wearing t-shirts, shorts and in some cases, Flip-Flops. Shame, shame,

    Hi,
Yes, it is okay to wear shorts on a flight. Even it also depends on a person’s mood, if he is comfortable to wear shorts then it’s ok but sometimes, the weather is can become too hot or too. thanks.

    Absolutely not
    It’s safety issue
Long pants to cover skin in event fire will probably save your leg skin from welding to the seat and give you a chance of survival if you do a sea landing
Also cover arms for same reason
    Proper enclosed shoes too

    Forgot to add

If you have exposed skin anywhere you will suffer severe burns and nylon clothing welding to your skin in the event of having to use safety chute

Please people take advice. This is also law in the UK but never enforced
