This small mistake could delay you at securitySometimes when going through security, people forget to take things out of their pockets or take their belt/shoes off. It’s happened to all of us: You remember right before you walk through, or you set the alarm off and the agent tells you to empty your pockets. Either way, you suddenly need to add stuff to your trays, but by this time the trays you’ve already filled with your bags/other stuff have passed into the X-ray machine. So you toss your stuff in someone else’s tray with some open space. No big deal, right?

Well, that happened at LAX the other day and it didn’t go so well for the dude who threw his shoes in the tub with my bag. That’s because my bag got flagged for some stupid reason and as a result, he got delayed a lot longer than he would have if he’d just grabbed a new tub at the beginning of the line. Be mindful of the risk next time you’re in his situation!

This is very true and helpful. Better grab a new tray if you got something else to add for scanning through the X-Ray, been through LAX so many times now so I make sure to take everything out, paper in pocket and all.
