Bring snacks on the planeIf you know you’re going to be hungry on your flight and you’re in coach, you better bring food on the plane! Lately, I’ve been seeing (at least on American Airlines) either the flight attendants run out of food after serving just the first few rows, or catering not board the food cart period. So it’s better to be safe than sorry. That’s why I always carry granola bars and power bars in my carry-on.

    Totally agree! Not to mention you never know how long your flight might be delayed before taking off or getting to the gate at your destination. Other “must-haves” in my carry-on are Trader Joe’s “Just a Handful” individually packaged trail mixes and also those cheese & cracker or peanut butter and cracker snacks. Nice to have in my purse while touring around a city, too, to stave off those cranky we-should-have-stopped-to-eat-an-hour-ago hunger pangs!

    Absolutely. On one long-haul AA flight I was on (LAX -> MIA) the flight not only ran out of food but brought the breakfast cart instead of lunch. I didn’t not share my sandwich with with row.

    I always fly with a PB&J sandwich on good, sturdy bread. Cut into quarters, wrap well, then place into a zip storage bag. I carry the sandwich in my carry on bag for an emergency. It keeps almost forever and always tastes good!
