I recently received a question from a reader D. Graff that inspired this tip: “Three years ago you made a comment about a passport cover and gave a site to get one. I ordered two: one for my son and one for me. When we came back through customs the agent took the covers off and almost threw them at me. Told me I could NOT use them. What is the deal?”
Answer: You can use covers, and they are great for keeping your passport safe from wear and tear and also from crooks (if you get a cover that has RFID-blocking capability). However, agents do not like passport covers, so you’ll need to take your passport out before handing it to them no matter where you are in the world.
