The other night I was channel surfing aimlessly as I usually do late at night, trying to skip all the annoying commercials … but one of the hazards of channel surfing is getting sucked into exactly what you’re trying to avoid. Before I knew it, I was suddenly so completely absorbed in an ad that I almost actually bought the product. But it’s for women so I didn’t. But still.

I thought this product was so cool that I made note of the website and showed it to my wife in the morning. She agreed that it looked awesome. So what is it exactly?

It’s a touch screen purse. The ad on TV was for a product that’s backed by Lori Greiner from Shark Tank and it’s a small, crossbody bag that has a clear ‘smart touch’ window that allows you to use your phone without removing it from the bag. It’s a cool concept under normal circumstances – it seems like an easy and convenient way for women to use their phones but in a COVID and post-COVID world, when people are trying to reduce their contact with high-touch surfaces, it’s especially great to be able to talk and text without constantly handling your phone. (According to Time, our phones are 10 times dirtier than a toilet seat.)

I like this bag for my wife, my sisters and my mother-in-law because crossbody bags are safer to use when you travel than an over-the-shoulder purse that a thief can easily snatch and it’s big enough to hold not just your phone but some cash, credit cards and passport. It’s also has an RFID blocker to keep your information safe. But of course, the best part is the ‘smart touch’ window so that you can use your phone without ever taking it out. You’re less likely to lose your phone this way, too.

The product from the TV ad is sold at GetTouchscreenPurse.com and it also sells on Amazon, which you can check out here

But there are other (nicer) touch screen purse options on Amazon, which you can take a look at here:

So, if you’re looking for a great gift for a woman on your shopping list or for something for yourself, I think a touch screen crossbody bag is a smart and handy thing to have. For myself, I guess I’ll just stick with my Scottevest jacket, which gives me tons of secret pockets to keep my stuff safe and secure.

In Spring of last year, when heading to England and Paris, I purchased a similar, yet not so stylish waterproof pouch for my iPhone. My husband added a portion of stainless steel 130 lb Test fishing leader to the strap, to make it “slash proof”. We were able to hide the fishing leader within the strap. With the iPhone, one needs to open up ACCESSIBILITY in the Settings and turn on Touch Accommodations. It worked beautifully for me.

How does one use the side buttons of the phone when it’s in the pouch?

I don’t think you can. You can only use the touch screen
