Travel App of the Week: Detour

Thanks to our friends over at Afar magazine for turning us onto this new and impressive app that gets travelers off the beaten path. Detour takes users on audio walks that don’t go to all of the touristy places and let users go at their own pace, on their own schedules, alone or in sync with friends. The app began with a six-month beta offering of San Francisco but they now have 21 Detours across eight world cities including Berlin, Barcelona, London, Marrakesh, New York, and Paris. Each Detour features hidden stories and places around the city and lasts an hour. Detour is free to download (currently only on iOS) but each tour costs $4.99 to download.
