Thanks to comedian Dan Nainan for turning me on to iArrow, an iPhone app that “provides navigation where there are no roads.” iArrow “will show you the way back to your car, campsite or hotel and help you reach the nearest settlement if you get lost. It features a built-in database of 2,000,000 localities around the world and does not require internet or cellular connection.”
More, from the website: “Unlike navigation systems that show a blank map, iArrow instantly launches and very clearly indicates the direction and distance to the destination. The app consumes little energy and saves battery power. The app is useful for travelers, fishermen or anyone who goes out in the countryside.”
Dan uses iArrow to help him find his car in a sea of parking spaces at the airport or wherever he’s parking. You just mark where you are and later, the app leads you back to that spot with the distance and the direction (as an arrow). iArrow is available on iOS and costs $1.99. Thanks, Dan, for the tip!
