Travel App of the Week: SafeTrek

SafeTrekHere’s a fantastic new safety app that’s amazingly simple and that should be installed on everyone’s smart phone—and not just those of travelers. SafeTrek is built to save lives, and here’s how: If you feel unsafe but can’t risk calling the police, you just launch the SafeTrek app and hold your thumb down on the safe button. When you release it, you can type in your security code if you’re safe. If you’re not safe, you don’t enter your code and the police will be notified right away as to your location. It works anywhere in the United States and right now you can get a free seven-day trial (then it’s $2.99 a month).
