Short bio: Lori Morrison is the author of “The Shaman’s Guide to Power Animals” (March 2019). She is a best-selling author, inspirationalist and mystic. She is part of a rare breed of lightening shamans who have received a spontaneous awakening of shamanic knowledge. Lori first journeyed into the shamanic underworld in 2010 where she found the spiritual realm of Power Animals. Her teachers were Mayan Ancestors who took her through a two year initiation with the spirits of four Jaguar. Her later intimate connection with Lion, given to her by a Haitian shaman has been an extraordinary experience and has enhanced greatly her healing powers. By merging and forming a sacred relationship with animal spirits she is able to support her clients with insight and change through her cutting-edge shamanic counseling practice in Sedona, Arizona, where she resides.

Favorite U.S. airport: Houston—I love the international baggage claim with the colorful suitcases that light up.

Favorite international airport: Singapore. It is the only airport that is fully carpeted and therefore very quiet as there is not the sound of rolling carry on wheels.

Favorite fruit: Mango off the tree in El Salvador.

Favorite food: Chocolate anything.

Right now I am reading: “The Shaman’s Guide to Power Animals.” It is my soon-to-be-released book so checking it cover to cover for any edits that are needed.

Top 3 favorite travel newsletters/magazines/blogs: Departures, Conde Nast Traveler.

Favorite travel website(s)—besides JohnnyJet.com, of course! Cruise Critic, TripAdvisor.

5 things you bring on a plane: I always wear a poncho or a cape of some kind that doubles as a blanket. Noise-reducing earphones as I am very sensitive to the vibration of the airplane. A personal air filter around my neck. Lots of meditative music on my iPhone.

What do you always seem to forget? Some kind of cable or charger that is vital to my worldly existence.

What do you like least about travel? TSA (Thousands Standing Around).

I’m embarrassed I haven’t been to: I can’t think of any place. I have thoroughly navigated through my bucket list.

Worst travel moment: Staying in Zimbabwe at the Victoria Falls Hotel where the electricity was out during our entire stay, every staff member had a different version of the truth. It was sweltering hot and there was no air-conditioning within miles. All the red wine in the restaurants was toasted by the heat. The only way to move around the country was bribing everyone including getting into the country and getting out.

What’s your dream destination? On the edge of a creek.

Favorite travel charity: I like to give donations to groups who are trying to save cats in the wild.

Best travel tip: If you lose your way, hire a taxi and follow it to your destination. Did that in Rome and other parts of Italy when the GPS failed.
