Travel Tip of the Day: Get Delta Silver Medallion Status Free (UPDATE: Possibly)

DeltaGet Delta Silver Medallion Status Free (UPDATE: Possibly)
If you plan on flying Delta Air Lines in the next couple months and you don’t have elite status, I’d suggest taking advantage of their current offer of free Silver Medallion status for the next two months. As a number of readers have pointed out, the offer is restricted to select SkyMiles members, so it won’t work for everybody. But if it does for you: Silver Medallion status includes complimentary Delta Comfort within 24 hours of departure, complimentary preferred seats, unlimited complimentary upgrades, and waived baggage fees. You just need to register by May 30, 2015.

If you qualify, you’ll just need to book and fly two qualifying roundtrips within two months of enrolling to keep your status until 2016. And as part of the deal, Delta will also give you 5,000 bonus miles. The bad news is that Delta’s frequent flier program is already diluted so it probably won’t be that easy to get an upgrade or one of their preferred seats, but still, it’s free and so probably worth trying out. Also, qualifying fare classes exclude L/U/T/X/V/E. Click here to see if you can sign up.

H/T to Global Traveler.

  1. Bummer, only works for targeted members. Didn’t work for me, says ineligible.

Johnny, the Delta Silver Medallion upgrade link is only valid for direct recipients of the promotion email from Delta and is not transferable.

  5. I entered my Skymiles number to register and then received a message that I am not eligible for this promotion. I then saw at the bottom of the sign up page that the fine print states that only those who have received an email offer, sent directly to them, are eligible and that the offer is not transferable.

  6. Registration for this promotion is restricted. Not everyone is eligible. I tried and received and error and then read these terms and conditions: Eligibility: Only members who receive this communication directly from Delta Air Lines are eligible to participate in this offer. This offer is nontransferable. To be eligible for the status upgrade, a member must (i) register online by May 30, 2015, and (ii) not have received a status match or complimentary Medallion® status in the past.

  7. I tried this and was told I was not eligible for this offer.

  8. This tip may be a private offer to you because it is non transferable and didn’t allow my account to join.

  9. Doesn’t work………….Look at their promotion page and Nothing.
Limited on whom it is applied to
