Get Two Room Keys
A hotel exec was recently showing me some rooms in one of his hotels, and when the first room key he tried didn’t work, he pulled out another. As he opened the door, he told me that he always gets two room keys because one of them often doesn’t work. It’s funny: I’ve been getting two room keys for decades, even when I’m alone, but I never thought of making it a tip until now.
FYI: The room key in the photo above unlocked my room at Terranea Resort in southern California.

Good tip! Same for me, I always put one in my wallet and the other in my purse in case I forget to put one back or it gets deactivated.
Me, too. And today I remembered to give both back when I checked out at the Intercontinental at the Plaza, KC. One key goes n the wallet for safe keeping in case I put the other with my phone or somehow stops working.
Quite often you need to leave one in the slot that keeps the AC on when you leave the room.
Or if you’re a “Player” it gives you another key to hand out to the “Laadies” :)
