Mem Day

Happy Memorial Day
Happy Memorial Day! Natalie and I are in Connecticut, where I grew up, for some tradition (like the annual stickball game) and time with family. It’s an important holiday here (not to mention a long weekend), just as it is in other towns and cities across the country—and so I wish you and your loved ones the best today.

As I’ve done in the past, I send my thanks to all the brave men and women who keep our country safe, as well as to all those who’ve ever been a part of our military (I’ll never forget the time I flew with a fallen soldier on a Delta flight). And now through July 4, a collection of airport restaurants across the country is showing its own gratitude by offering a free menu item to all active and retired members of the military. Harriet Baskas has the details here—and be sure to share!

Also: An airline seat upgrade, if you’re ever in a position to offer one, is always a nice way to show your appreciation to a member of our military.
