Travel Tip of the Day: Hotel Wi-Fi Guide

Ham Yard Hotel London Aug 2015-011Hotel Wi-Fi Guide
Our friends at Hipmunk recently released what they’re calling “The Hipmunk Guide to Free Hotel Wi-Fi,” in which they’ve compiled some of their endless travel data into a helpful post on hotel Wi-Fi. The guide looks at such things as the US cities with the highest percentages of hotels with Wi-Fi (Fort Meyers Beach, FL is #1!) and even breaks down the Wi-Fi options at most of the major hotel chains. It’s a quick read, and a worthwhile one if you value Wi-Fi when you’re away from home. I know I do. Check out the post here.

  1. I had a letter in the FT on just this subject. Hotels in Portugal have been the most frustrating.

  2. I hate that the “luxury” or “Main” hotel chains charge for wi-fi also. Yet, a few of the times that I stayed there, I simply asked the front desk person if they have an access code for me to use for wi-fi and they usually give it to me. If not, then I’ll go up to my room, and will call the front desk and ask the same question. It’s worth a shot and doesn’t hurt!
