Peter Greenberg in KenyaPeter Greenberg’s Best Travel Tip
One of Peter Greenberg’s best travel tips is: “Never take a no from someone who is not empowered to give you a yes in the first place.” This is an excellent piece of advice for all travelers to remember and applies when you’re booking or changing flights, checking in at a hotel or even dining at a restaurant. Is he being factitious about the 5 items he brings on a plane? Duct tape?

“Never take a no from someone who is not empowered to give you a yes in the first place.” I have had this experience at The Four Seasons. Always ask for an upgrade upon check-in, but ONLY ask the Assistant Hotel Manager, never the front desk person, because you’ll probably get a “no, sorry, we’re fully booked”. You’ll most likely get the upgrade if you ask the right person!

I figure duct tape is handy to carry too, but I’ve had it confiscated by security.

I do tend to look rather markedly less respectable than Messr. Greenberg does, mind you. Perhaps that makes a difference.
