Take Care of Your Boarding Pass
Recently, I learned the hard way not to wrinkle your boarding pass. I printed my pass at home and stuffed it in my front pocket. By the time I got to the security checkpoint, the officer couldn’t read it and I didn’t have cell service to bring up the mobile version. I ended up having to go back downstairs, way out of the way, to one of the kiosks to reprint it before I could board the plane. Moral of the story: Take care and don’t wrinkle your boarding pass.

FYI: The boarding pass in the picture above was for my helicopter transfer from the Nice airport to Monaco.

I always print two copies, one to use and one stored safely in a carryon. And always have a printed copy if you are using your phone, just in case.

I keep a PDF copy stored on my phone. No need for an internet connection to view it.

I usually have a printed copy with me in my pocket, but I also get another one before I get in line for security. Like you, I’ve had trouble with mangled/unreadable boarding passes so I believe in having a second version in hand. I don’t bother with the one on my phone.

I usually keep my boarding pass(es) in the flat pocket on the outside of my carry-on, that’s not much good for anything else to fit in. I pull the appropriate pass out as I approach the security area. On our last trip, my wife and I used the passes on our smartphones for the first time (I had a backup hardcopy for the first leg, just in case) and it was a bit nervewracking when I had to find just the right spot to stand in by the security checkpoint in order to download the pass. I guess I need to figure out how to store the PDF copy on the phone, as KK does.
