If you don’t have cash on you, always ask the taxi driver before getting into the vehicle if they accept credit cards. If they don’t, find another taxi. Also, before paying by credit card, ask the driver if they charge a fee for using a credit card to pay. For instance, in Las Vegas, paying by credit card will cost you an extra $3! And I’ve been charged a pound or two in London. That hurts!

And FYI: When paying with a credit card, make sure you don’t get charged a foreign transaction fee by the credit card company. The Barclaycard Arrival® Plus World Elite Mastercard® is my favorite option, and here’s a longer list of cards without these fees.
