First Class on Qatar Airways A380

The Best Days and Times to Get Upgraded
My buddy Gary Leff from View From The Wing recently wrote a blog post about why much of the next few weeks will be super tough for upgrades. On top of a good list of reasons, he also offers his thoughts on the best times and days of the week to get upgraded, and in fact, his advice can be applied any time of year.

The biggest thing I took away from it was not to fly when most business travelers do, like on the first flight Monday morning and Thursday and Friday afternoons between 5 and 7:30 pm. “If you want to upgrade without competition, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays are your best bet and middle of the day,” he says.

It’s one of the main reasons I fly so often on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. It’s also because these tend to be the cheapest days of the week to fly.

FYI: The photo above was taken in Qatar Airways first class, which I flew—and loved—a few months ago.

Hello Johnny I am big fan of Leo and his twit programs. In mid May to June, My sister and God Father departure from JFK going to Barcelona Spain, Spain train ride to Paris then Paris to JFK. I am trying to find out everything I can. I don’t feel that I am digging deep enough using kayak and airfare watchdog. Thanks for any advice you may be able to give me. Regards LeeRoy
