What to Do If the PreCheck Lane Isn’t Open
If you have TSA PreCheck (here’s how to get it for free) but the PreCheck lane isn’t open at the airport that day, like it wasn’t for me recently at Miami International Airport, don’t despair yet. Tell a security agent that you’re a PreCheck member and ask if you can still get the benefits. They should tell you to just show your boarding pass to the agent in charge of the security line so you don’t have to take your shoes off or take your laptop and liquids out.
