Travel Tip of the Day: Where to Find United Airlines Club Passes for Cheap

LAX-BZN on United1Where to Find United Airlines Club Passes for Cheap
United Airlines recently raised their club lounge day pass price from $50 to $59. Alternatively, you can get in for free with one of their co-branded credit cards—or you can buy other card members’ passes inexpensively on eBay. Naturally, the airline doesn’t approve of this practice so you have to be careful, but there are plenty of passes on eBay starting as low as $15.

  1. Buyer beware. All United clubs now require id and airline same day ticket with same name as member name in order to enter. They are being very strict as they should be, protecting those of us who pay the hefty yearly fee.

  2. With the United/Chase, you get some passes. Do mean that now you can simply use the credit card for admission?

  3. Delta has also increased the club price and in the process cut its value in half. Let me explain.

I fly the Delta redeye frequently LAX-JFK. When Delta put in amazing resort quality showers at JFK I would buy a Club pass for $50 useable at LAX (snacks/wifi/read) and JFK for the shower. The good part about buying the pass in LAX was that I could zoom into JFK showers without waiting in line to buy the pass (and explain why I don’t have a connecting flight!).

On my most recent trip I was told the pass was only usable at LAX–not two (or more) Clubs in 24 hours. Why? They were getting too crowded.

Now when I buy the pass at JFK (wait in line, get the third degree, etc.) the showers are all filled by free Club holders–can’t blame them though.

A first world problem for sure, but still a problem if you want a quick shower at JFK without renting a hotel room.

  4. When I have used my United issued Club passes they checked my boarding passes. What if the two names don’t match. Sorry had to repost. Had wrong email address the first time.
