I’d never heard of this site until the news that it was voted the Gold winner in the Online Travel Journalism Sites category by the Society of American Travel Writers. Roads & Kingdoms (R&K) is an independent journal of food, politics, travel, and culture. It first launched in Burma as a Tumblr that became a home for reports on everything from the Burmese civil war to the perils of rancid crab. Now R&K is a full-time digital magazine based in New York and Barcelona that publishes in long-form dispatches, interviews and global ephemera daily. Their stories are popular and I love that they use full-size images. Here’s a current list of their most popular travel stories.
