Travel Website of the Week: Twitter Alerts

Twitter Alerts

Here’s another reason for you to get on Twitter (as if following me and others to find the best travel deals wasn’t enough). The U.S. Government has created a Twitter Alerts page, which will send critical information to your phone (once Twitter is installed on it) in real time. Just register your phone number online and you are all set.

Tweets are published by select public agencies and emergency organizations during a crisis or emergency that contain up-to-date information relevant to an unfolding event, such as public safety warnings and evacuation instructions. Alerts will appear highlighted on your home timeline and are instantly sent to your device as a mobile notification.

Here’s some help from Twitter for getting set up.
