The TSA, according to a post on its own site, “is preparing for another record-breaking travel season this summer, as 243 million passengers and crew are projected to pass through security checkpoints nationwide between Memorial Day and Labor Day.” The quickest way to get through TSA screening? It’s—still—to get CLEAR and TSA PreCheck. With both, you won’t have to wait in any long lines (or at least as few as possible) and you won’t have to pull everything out of your bag or take your shoes off.

However, if you don’t have TSA PreCheck you should make sure you’re prepared to go through security so you don’t get delayed by getting re-screened. By now, you probably know that all personal electronic items need to be scanned separately including laptops, tablets, e-readers, and cameras. What you might not know is that TSA is now asking passengers without TSA PreCheck to remove items from their bags “such as foods, powders, and any materials that can clutter bags and obstruct clear images on the X-ray machine.” Here’s TSA’s post on its updated screening procedures.

Johnny, I recently flew First Class from Honolulu on Hawaiian airlines and even though I have had the Global Entry card for 2 years, I did not get the TSA Precheck on my boarding pass. Never happened before. I asked and the Airline could not explain why except for some random selection check. Have you heard of this?

Did you record your Known ID in Hawaiian’s system? Do it online or ask the agent next time. Or it was random as you don’t always get it
