Of the credit cards featured in our best limited time travel credit card offers June 2019 post, the easiest credit cards to get approved for on average are likely going to be the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card or the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express. The Southwest card sees an average approval rating at about 670. But some users have been approved with scores as low as 607. The Gold Delta sees an average approval of 675 with approval that was as low as 624.

If you prefer a more flexible card, your best bet would be the Chase Sapphire Preferred. While the average credit score for approved applicants is 736, some people have reportedly gotten approved with a score as low as 646.

Because everyone has a different credit history, these will obviously vary from person to person.

At the time of publication, the limited time credit card deal that offers the best sign on bonus is the Chase Sapphire Preferred. With the ability to earn 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months of account opening, this sign on bonus is worth $750 in award travel. Cardholders can transfer or redeem those 60,000 points for a variety of things (why this card is so valuable), including a trip to Europe.

However, if you qualify for the 100,000 Platinum Card from American Express welcome bonus and can earn it, you would do well to take advantage of it as the Platinum Card comes with a multitude of benefits. The Gold or Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Cards also come with great welcome bonuses if you fly Delta.

Which limited time credit card offer is best for a big purchase?

If you are planning on making a big purchase, there are a few options to consider. A big purchase on the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant could bring you closer to more benefits. Cardholders who spend $75,000 in eligible purchases on their card in a calendar year earn Platinum Elite Status. This status means cardholders will have access to room upgrades, welcome gifts at check-in, 50% bonus points on stays, and more at Marriott Bonvoy properties.

Although the Southwest credit cards limited time offers have expired, the consumer cards still have a bonus of 40,000 points after spending $1,000 in the first 3 months of account opening. While this bonus isn’t anything to write home about, earning 110,000 points is. That’s because you can qualify for the Southwest Companion Pass which essentially lets a companion travel with you for a very low price of $5.60 each way.  

Essentially, if you are going to make a big purchase, choose the card that makes the most sense for you. If you want the flexibility to travel, the Chase Sapphire Preferred is a good card to go for. If you fly Delta often, the Platinum Delta or Delta Reserve are good options since they earn plenty of miles and come with plenty of benefits.
