Use this reader tip to sleep better in an Amtrak bedroom

Each Friday, we feature a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s reader tip comes from reader Judy K. from Chula Vista, CA, who shares a tip for anyone traveling by rail in an Amtrak bedroom:

“Since retiring, we travel on Amtrak cross-country routes a couple times a year. Because the experience is the purpose of the trip, we book an Amtrak bedroom because not only do we get a private bathroom, but we also can enjoy the scenery on both sides of the trains. The only downside with this choice is that the partition between the bedrooms often rattles incessantly and loudly. In the past, we have tried bracing it with cardboard, tape and towels. Our car attendant this time (Ricky) suggested we wedge hangers from the closet into the space between the partition and the bathroom. This worked like a charm to silence the noise and made the journey much more enjoyable.”

A good tip for anyone interested in train travel and/or an overnight Amtrak ride. Thanks, Judy! And it’s good timing, too…
