Today is World Book Day! If you ask me, every day is book day because I couldn’t live without books but I’m all for a day to celebrate one of the big joys of my life. What is World Book Day?

According to WorldBookDay.com, “
World Book Day was created by UNESCO on 23rd April 1995 to celebrate books and authors and encourage young people to discover the pleasure of reading. Now World Book Day continues to encourage children and young people to read for pleasure through its work with authors, illustrators, bookshops and libraries.”

In honor of World Book Day, Amazon is giving away 10 Kindle books from around the world for free. You can check out all the titles here.

Reading is such a wonderful way to understand the world we live in, appreciate different cultures and learn about history. I just finished reading Kristin Hannah’s novel The Four Winds and it was one of the best books I’ve read in a really long time. It’s set during the depression and is about the Dust Bowl, a period of American history that I didn’t know much about. It was eye-opening, enlightening and heartbreaking. Hannah’s writing is exquisite and I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for their next unputdownable read.
