Princess CruiseSince October is “Plan A Cruise Month” and I’ve given a couple great cruise tips (like this one) this week, I thought I’d share my number-one cruise tip, which will help those worried about gaining weight. We all know that cruises are filled with endless amounts of food, which makes it really difficult for passengers (at least for me) to control their appetites. I usually end up having two to three desserts a day! To combat all of those extra calories, I almost always take the stairs instead of the elevator while onboard a ship—even if it means going up 15 flights. The only time I make an exception is when I arrive and depart with my heavy bags.

What’s your best cruise tip? Leave your tip below and we might use it for a future Reader Travel Tip.

That’s how I avoid the dreaded cruise weight gain – take the stairs and avoid the buffet.

Your tip is BRILLIANT, which I can attest to. Just returned from a Mediterranean Sea cruise, which included stops in Spain, Italy, & France. Had an aft facing cabin on deck 12, which we went in & out of numerous time a day, religiously restricting ourselves to the stairs, aside from initial ship entry & final ship exit, coincidentally your procedure as well. Being a female resident of the U.S.A., subjected to the stressed guidelines of our society, I allowed myself to venture off my self-directed, daily food plan, somewhat, & miraculously managed to lose one pound, WHAT!
