American Express has just announced plans to expand the Dallas/Ft.Worth Centurion Lounge. This is exciting news for Platinum Card® from American Express cardholders that enjoy the benefits of The Centurion Lounge Network. If you plan on passing through DFW (Dallas/Ft. Worth) in the near future, you will need to schedule a visit to the new facility.
What’s New At The DFW Centurion Lounge?
Maybe you have already stopped by the Dallas/Ft. Worth Centurion. If so, you probably immediately realized that it was time well spent, but often overcrowded. Now, you will have more reasons to visit Dallas.
The new Dallas/Ft. Worth Centurion Lounge will be located opposite its existing space. It will neighbor Gate D17 on the mezzanine and just inside security.
American Express anticipates the new lounge to open in the first half of 2018. Until then, you will be able to access the current lounge without interruption during its normal business hours of 5:30 am to 10:30 pm.
Here’s what you can expect from the expanded Centurion Lounge:
- Additional 3,000 square feet
- Three shower suites
- Private telephone rooms
- Private mother’s room
You will also enjoy the following amenities that that continue to make The Centurion network one of the best:
Full premium bar with specialty cocktails developed by Centurion lounge mixologist Jim Meehan, and wines handpicked by Centurion Lounge wine director Anthony Giglio
Fresh, locally-inspired cuisine designed by James Beard Award-winning chef Dean Fearing
Complimentary spa therapies from Exhale
Semi-private, and dedicated work area with high-speed Wi-Fi
Member services desk
Large flat-screen TVs
It’s not every day you can go to the airport and visit the spa, work in privacy, and even take a shower. American Express has realized that affluent travelers desire these perks when passing over their layover.
How to Access the Dallas/Ft.Worth Centurion Lounge
Not just anybody can enter the Dallas/Ft. Worth Centurion Lounge network.
You must own one of the following American Express credit cards:
- Platinum Card from American Express
- The Business Platinum® Card from American Express
- American Express Corporate Platinum
- American Express Centurion Black Card
Each of these cards will give you complimentary access to the American Express Global Lounge Network. This includes The Centurion Network, International American Express, Delta Sky Clubs, and Priority Pass Select.
One-day passes are also available for sale, but, you must purchase it from the front desk at the time of visit. Even then, admission is not guaranteed as it depends on the current occupancy. Platinum and Centurion cardmembers receive first priority.
Visiting The Centurion Lounge with the Amex Platinum
Your best option to visit the Dallas/Ft. Worth Centurion Lounge is to own the Platinum Card from American Express. You can also bring two guests for free on each visit.
Everyone in your party can enjoy all the amenities of the Centurion Lounge. It doesn’t matter if it’s in Dallas or one of the other locations across the U.S. Having the ability to access four separate lounge networks can be a large selling point for you.
Air Travel Benefits
There’s more to the Platinum Card than access to The Centurion Lounges. You will also enjoy the following travel benefits:
- $200 annual air travel credit
- $200 in annual Uber credits
- Earn five points per $1 on airline tickets and hotel stays
- Global Entry/TSA Precheck application fee reimbursement
- Access to International American Express, Delta SkyClub, and Priority Pass Select lounge networks
- Transfer rewards points to airline travel partners
If you love to fly and enjoy travel benefits, the Amex Platinum is one of the best cards for air travel rewards. The annual air travel credit will pay your first $200 in baggage fees and in-flight purchases with one airline. After you land, the Uber credits will give you complimentary rides so you don’t have to pay exorbitant taxi fares or rent a car.
The Platinum Card from American Express also has a powerful rewards points system. Each purchase earns Membership Rewards and you will earn five points per dollar on airfare booked directly through the airline or on AmexTravel.com. You will also earn five points per dollar on hotel nights purchased on AmexTravel.com. At five points per dollar, the Platinum Card has the highest earning amount of all the flexible travel cards for airline and hotel purchases. If the annual fee is too much on the Platinum card you might consider the Premier Rewards Gold from American Express as it also offers an annual travel credit and is cheaper than the Platinum Card. But, it doesn’t come with all the additional travel benefits or get you complimentary Centurion access.
Points can be redeemed for award flights through AmexTravel.com. Or, you can transfer them on a 1:1 basis to many of the popular airline loyalty programs. In many instances, this can be a better deal to roundup your current balance so you can upgrade to a first class seat or even score a cheap economy flight.
Some of your transfer partners include Delta, Emirates, Etihad, Aeroplan, and Hawaiian Airlines.
All of these air travel benefits are what make the Platinum Card from American Express worth owning. Yes, access to elite airport lounge networks is nice, but, it shouldn’t be the only reason you own a credit card. While free lounge visits alone can pay the $550 annual fee for the Amex Platinum, all of the travel benefits will help you save money long-term. Here’s hard it is to get approved for the Amex Platinum and the credit score you will need for approval.
Additional Travel Benefits
- $550 credit to FINE Hotels and Resorts
- Automatic Hilton Honors Gold and Starwood Preferred Guest Gold status
- Complimentary Boingo wifi hotspot access
- Car rental privileges
- Secondary car rental loss and damage waiver
While you might not use these perks on a consistent basis, several of them are exclusive to the Amex Platinum. You will not see another premium travel credit card offer so many additional perks.
As there might not be free wifi everywhere you travel, Boingo can literally give you free internet access at over 1,000,000 places worldwide. Upgraded hotel status to the Hilton and SPG brands also gives you additional travel benefits and point bonuses that are only reserved for program loyalists.
Additionally, cardholders can get up to $100 in statement credits annually for purchases at Saks Fifth Avenue on their Platinum Card®. That’s up to $50 in statement credits semi-annually. However, they must be enrolled for this benefit to apply.
American Express Platinum Welcome Offer
As an additional bonus, American Express is offering a 60,000 point welcome offer to first-time Platinum cardholders after spending $5,000 on your card in the first 3 months of Card Membership. These 60,000 Membership Rewards points can be redeemed for $600 in award travel directly through American Express or transferred to an airline partner. While you work toward earning the bonus points, you will be able to enjoy all of the travel benefits, including access to Dallas/Ft. Worth Centurion Lounge immediately.
