You can ask for a microwave at many hotelsDid you know that some hotels will provide a microwave free of charge? Of course, availability depends on how many microwaves the specific hotel has on hand, so you never know, but generally speaking all you have to do is ask. If you really want to be sure you’ll have access ahead of time, you can call your hotel in advance to find out if microwaves will be available, and for what charge. And if it doesn’t offer them for use in your room, it most certainly will have access to one. The DoubleTree in Norwalk, CT, recently let us use the one in the employee breakroom!

FYI: I took the photo above at The Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda, where staff delivered a microwave to our room free of charge. We’ve started asking for one at hotels because Jack is sometimes a finicky eater (so we bring microwaveable food from home).
