Over the past year and a half, you may have found yourself making more Amazon purchases. Perhaps you’re a long-time Prime member who uses Amazon regularly and has technology like the Fire Stick, Alexa, and Kindle in your home. Or, maybe you make purchases a few times a month and use Amazon Fresh for your grocery purchases. Plus, their extensive Amazon Prime Video streaming library is loaded with high-quality entertainment.
To get the most out of your Amazon purchases, consider using a credit card that has specific Amazon benefits. You could earn at least 2x rewards, be able to use your rewards to pay for Amazon purchases, and/or earn an exciting signup bonus offer in the process. So, whether you’re an occasional Amazon user or find yourself making weekly purchases, you’ll earn extra rewards on purchases you were already making.

The Best Credit Cards To Use For Amazon Purchases
While any rewards credit card can earn points on Amazon purchases, some are better than others. To maximize your spending, a cash back credit card can be a beneficial card to have. However, if you’re looking to earn travel rewards, there are some valuable options to consider as well.
At the end of the day, find the card that makes the most sense for you and your spending habits.
Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card
The information for the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card and the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card has been collected independently by Johnny Jet. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card can be your best option for Amazon rewards or cash rewards. But you must be an Amazon Prime member to qualify for this card. It’s also a metal credit card and doesn’t have an annual fee. You get a $70 Amazon gift card upon application approval as well.
Prime members get 5% back on Amazon.com purchases and Whole Foods purchases (3% back for non-Prime members). Gas stations, restaurants, and drugstores get 2% back. Everything else earns 1% back.
You can redeem your rewards for Amazon purchases. Other redemption options include cash, gift cards, and travel. While Chase issues the Amazon credit card, you earn Amazon points instead of Chase Ultimate Rewards.
Other credit card shopping benefits you may appreciate include:
- One additional year of U.S. manufacturer’s warranties of 3 years or less
- Up to $500 purchase protection for up to 120 days for damage or theft
- Zero liability fraud protection (standard with every credit card)
There’s also a non-Prime version of this card, the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card, with a lower earn rate. Canceling your Prime membership downgrades you to the basic card.
Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card
The Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card is one of the best cash rewards cards for Amazon purchases. You earn 1.5% back on every purchase, regardless of the merchant. This card doesn’t have an annual fee or foreign transaction fee. New cardholders can earn a one-time $200 cash bonus after spending $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
Your best redemption option is cash back as each point is worth 1 cent each. Like the other Capital One credit cards, you can also redeem your points directly on Amazon, but each point may only be worth 0.8 cents each.
You can get a complimentary extended warranty on select purchases. Two other online shopping tools Quicksilver offers are Paribus and Wikibuy. Wikibuy scans the purchase price for many online stores, including Amazon, to find the lowest price.
Paribus tracks your Amazon purchases for late deliveries to get a shipping credit. This tool also looks for price drops on your recent purchases. While Amazon doesn’t offer price protection claims, you may get a partial refund for purchases on other retailers like Walmart or Target.

Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card can be one of the best travel credit cards to maximize your Amazon purchases. Most travel credit cards only earn 1 point/mile per $1 spent at Amazon. However, the Venture card earns 2x miles per $1 on every purchase. That means you’ll earn twice the amount of rewards, everytime you use your card for purchases.
Your Venture miles are redeemable for travel statement credits, booking future travel, and mile transfers to select airline and hotel Capital One transfer partners.
The annual fee is $95. You also get a fee credit of up to $100 for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. These benefits, and no foreign transaction fee, make this one of the best credit cards for international travel. This card also sports the Wikibuy and Paribus online shopping tools we discussed above that can increase your Amazon shopping savings.
New Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card cardholders can earn 60,000 miles after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months.

Learn more: Cash Back Credit Cards
Cash back credit cards tend to have the highest purchase rewards for Amazon purchases. However, shopping at Amazon is an easy way to boost your points balance with travel rewards credit cards as well. Don’t forget to compare the additional shopping benefits like price comparison tools or extended warranty to protect your purchases.
Which credit card is best for Amazon?
The best credit card for Amazon depends on how you prefer to redeem your rewards points and if you’re an Amazon Prime member. Here are some of the best cards, depending on how deep your Amazon loyalty is.
- Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature: Prime members get 5% back on Amazon.com and Whole Foods purchases. You can redeem your points for Amazon purchases, cash rewards, gift cards, or travel.
- Amazon Rewards Visa Signature: For non-Amazon Prime members. Get 3% back on Amazon.com and Whole Foods purchases. Points are redeemable for Amazon purchases, cash, gift cards, and travel.
- Capital One Quicksilver: Earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase. The built-in Wikibuy and Paribus shopping tools can help you find additional savings on Amazon and other online purchases.
Cash rewards credit cards have the highest cash back rates at Amazon. But these regular purchases can also be valuable if you have a travel rewards credit card. Most travel credit cards only earn 1 point per $1 at Amazon. But, those base earnings supplement your points balance.
Does Amazon have its own credit card?
Chase issues the co-brand Amazon credit cards for personal shopping:
- Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature (for Amazon Prime members only)
- Amazon Rewards Visa Signature (for basic Amazon members)
You get 5% back on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases with the Amazon Prime Rewards credit card. The non-Prime version earns 3% back on these purchases. Neither card has an annual fee.
American Express issues co-brand small business Amazon credit cards:
- Amazon Business Prime Card
- Amazon Business American Express Card
The Business Prime Card gives you 5% back for Amazon and Whole Foods-related purchases.
Is Amazon Prime free with an Amazon credit card?
Not exactly. No Amazon credit card has an annual fee. However, you must be a Prime member to qualify for the American Express or Chase co-brand credit cards for Prime members to earn 5% back on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases. Not being a Prime member means you only get 3% back on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases.
Amazon Prime membership costs $119 per year (or $12.99 per month), plus taxes.
