What credit cards offer the highest credit limit? Having the highest credit limit possible on your credit cards helps you more than you think. If you need to make a large, one-time purchase, it’s possible to charge it to one card. Additionally, higher credit limits also improve your credit score when you maintain a low monthly balance. If you want to enjoy both of these benefits, consider one of the following high limit credit cards.
What Credit Cards Offer the Highest Credit Limit?
Your credit limit is based on several factors including the card type and your credit profile.
Some credit card products have a minimum credit limit. For example, a Visa Signature card must have a minimum $5,000 credit limit. A Visa Infinite must have a $10,000 limit or higher.
Your credit limit also depends on your credit score. If your score is in the 600s, your score might not be higher than $10,000. With a 700+ score, your credit limit should be at least $10,000.
Of course, your previous credit history, current income, and monthly expenses can also determine the highest credit limit you qualify for too.
If you have “Excellent Credit” with a credit score above 780, your best option is a premium rewards card. These cards also come with many additional benefits that lower-priced cards don’t offer. If you can justify the higher annual fee, you can give some of the best rewards credit cards a try.
The Credit Cards Offer the Highest Credit Limit
Chase Sapphire Reserve
The Chase Sapphire Reserve® is a Visa Infinite card. This means your credit limit is at least $10,000.
With this flexible travel rewards card, you also get these benefits:
- 3x points on dining
- 50% redemption bonus on award travel
- 1:1 point transfers to airline and hotel partners
- $300 annual travel credit as reimbursement for travel purchases charged to your card each account anniversary year
- 3X points on travel immediately after earning your $300 travel credit
- Priority Pass Select airport lounge membership
- Global Entry or TSA Precheck application fee reimbursement
The Chase Sapphire Reserve review helps explain how the benefits are worth a $550 annual fee.
If you like flexible options, it doesn’t get much better than the Chase Sapphire Reserve®. Your points are worth 50% more when you book award travel on the Chase travel portal. Or, you can also transfer them in 1,000 point increments to travel partners like Southwest Airlines, United, and World of Hyatt.
Platinum Card from American Express
American Express handles credit limits differently than other banks. In most cases, you don’t have a credit limit because their cards are technically “charge cards.” You must pay your balance in full each month to avoid late charges, but you don’t have a credit limit.
One of these cards is The Platinum Card® from American Express.
It has a $550 annual fee (See Rates & Fees), but you get these travel benefits:
- 5x points on tickets purchased directly from the airline or AmexTravel.com
- $200 annual air travel credit
- $200 in annual Uber ride credits
- Complimentary airport lounge membership
- 1:1 point transfers
The Platinum Card® from American Express is excellent if you fly often. Their rewards points are most valuable for booking award flights.
Business Platinum Card from American Express
For large business purchases, look to The Business Platinum Card® from American Express.
On each purchase larger than $5,000, you get a 50% bonus. Instead of the normal 1 point per $1, you earn 1.5 points per $1 instead. Plus, you get 5 points per $1 on flights and prepaid hotels booked on AmexTravel.com.
With the Business Platinum Card, you earn American Express Membership Rewards points. You can transfer them on a 1:1 basis to the Membership Rewards travel partners. Plus, you’ll get 35% of your points back when you book award flights on AmexTravel.com, up to 500,000 points.
You will also get these free air travel benefits:
- Annual $200 air travel credit
- Global Entry or TSA PreCheck membership fee credit
- Membership to American Express Global Lounge Collection
New cardholders have the opportunity to earn 75,000 Membership Rewards as part of the welcome offer. To earn the 75k, you’ll have to spend $15,000 on qualifying purchases within the first 3 months of card membership. The annual fee is $595 (See Rates & Fees).

- Second free weekend night after spending $60,000 in a year
- Complimentary Hilton Honors Diamond status
- $250 Hilton Resort statement credit
- $100 on-property Hilton credit
- Earn up to 14x Hilton Honors points on each eligible Hilton purchase
For air travel, you also get a $250 airline fee credit. You can enjoy Priority Pass Select lounge membership as well with the Aspire.
Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
The Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card might not come across your radar because it’s a Visa Signature card. While you might only get the $5,000 minimum credit limit, it’s possible you can get more with a higher credit score. For example, some well-qualified cardholders report a $50,000 credit limit. That’s 10x the minimum credit limit!
With the Venture Rewards Card, you earn 2x miles on purchases. You can redeem your miles for award travel and travel statement credits. Furthermore, a recent benefit addition is a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck fee credit, up to $100.
There is a $95 annual fee but you won’t pay any foreign transaction fees.
If you want a flat-rate rewards card, the Capital One Venture Rewards Card is a good option. You earn the same amount of miles on every purchase. Plus, they are worth the same amount for any redemption.
New cardholders can earn a 100k mile bonus by spending $20,000 on purchases in the first 12 months from account opening, or earn 50,000 miles if you spend $3000 on purchases in the first 3 months.

Even credit cards that don’t charge an annual fee have generous credit limits too. The Chase Freedom is a cash back credit card. It’s a Visa Signature product that earns 5% back on quarterly bonus products. The Freedom is also one of our picks for the best Chase credit card combo.
You don’t pay an annual fee and the 5% bonus helps you earn more points than other Chase cards might only earn 1 or 2 points on. You can then pool your points with your Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, or Ink Business Preferred for bonus travel awards.
Some of the 5% bonus categories include:
- Public Transit
- Mobile Wallet Purchases
- Grocery Store Purchases
The 5% bonus applies to the first $1,500 in combined quarterly purchases. All remaining purchases earn an unlimited 1% back.
Summary of the Credit Cards Offer the Highest Credit Limit
