In the U.S., that means you won’t be able to stay at many of the high-end InterContinental properties, but you can still find some gems in the Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza brands by staying at properties in major metro areas.
Redeeming your free night certificate overseas can help you stay at high-end brands like the InterContinental Madrid or InterContinental Bangkok.

Marriott Rewards Premier Plus

In addition to the free weekend night certificate, you can also get complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status and earn up to 12x points on Hilton purchases. You’ll also earn 6x points at U.S.-based restaurants, gas stations, and supermarkets too.
Chase Hyatt Credit Card
The Hyatt Credit Card offers one of the most generous free annual night certificates and valuable World of Hyatt points that are can easily be redeemed for at least 2 cents each. Note that most hotel award points are worth 0.5 to 0.7 cents each.
Each card anniversary year, you’ll receive a free hotel night certificate for any category 1-4 hotel or resort that costs 15,000 points or less. Some of the possible destinations include:

When you choose Wyndham Rewards card with a $75 annual fee, you’ll have the opportunity to get 30,000 points as a sign-up bonus. That is equal to two free nights!
Wyndham also gives you 9,000 points every card anniversary. Although still 6,000 points short of getting a free hotel night, you can pay with points and cash to get a free night.
To make up the difference, you can earn Wyndham points for:
- 5 points per $1 on Wyndham purchases
- 2 points per $1 for gas, grocery, and utility purchases (excluding Walmart and Target)
- 1 point per $1 on all remaining purchases
As an automatic Wyndham Rewards Platinum member, you can also earn 10 points per $1 or 1,000 points (whichever is more) on each Wyndham stay. With this benefit alone, paying for six separate Wyndham stays and the 9,000 point anniversary bonus gives you enough points to book a free hotel night each year.
